A NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CREW ASSESSED THE DAMAGE IN JUSTIN AND
DETERMINED THE MOST LIKELY CAUSE OF DAMAGE TO BE THUNDERSTORM
WINDS IN EXCESS OF 80 MPH. THE DAMAGE OCCURRED BETWEEN 7:30 AND
7:45 PM ON SUNDAY EVENING, MARCH 26TH.

THE DAMAGE IN AND NEAR JUSTIN BEGAN TO THE SOUTHWEST OF THE CITY
CENTER, WHERE THE CREW FOUND TREE DAMAGE. MOVING NORTHEAST,
ADDITIONAL DAMAGE WAS FOUND SOUTHWEST OF AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND
A CITY PARK, BEFORE THE BULK OF THE DAMAGE IN A NEIGHBORHOOD JUST
NORTH OF TRAIL CREEK. IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD, SEVERAL HOMES HAD SUFFERED
SHINGLE DAMAGE, WITH MOST DAMAGE NOTED ON THE SOUTHERN OR WESTERN
SIDE. NUMEROUS FENCES WERE ALSO BLOWN IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD, AND
SEVERAL TREES WERE EITHER BLOWN DOWN OR LOST LIMBS.

THE PATH OF THE WIND DAMAGE WAS SPORADIC. NEAR JUSTIN, THE DAMAGE
PATH WAS APPROXIMATELY 2-3 MILES LONG, AND ABOUT A MILE WIDE. A
DIVERGENT DAMAGE PATH WAS FOUND, AS THE DAMAGE WITHIN THE PATH OF
THE STORM HAD NO COHESIVE PATH. THERE WERE SEVERAL PICTURES OF A
FUNNEL CLOUD AND OF A LOW WALL CLOUD NEAR JUSTIN AROUND THE TIME
OF THE DAMAGE. HOWEVER, NO CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE OF TORNADO DAMAGE
WAS FOUND.
