NWS CENTRAL PACIFIC HURRICANE CENTER HONOLULU HI  
335 PM HST SAT AUG 1 2020  
 
FOR THE CENTRAL NORTH PACIFIC, BETWEEN 140W AND 180W:  
 
THERE WAS ONE TROPICAL CYCLONE IN THE CENTRAL PACIFIC HURRICANE  
CENTER (CPHC) AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY DURING THE MONTH OF JULY.  
MAJOR HURRICANE DOUGLAS CROSSED 140W AS A CATEGORY 3 HURRICANE,  
AND CAME DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO THE MAIN HAWAIIAN ISLANDS AS A  
CATEGORY 1 HURRICANE. DOUGLAS GRADUALLY WEAKENED TO A TROPICAL  
STORM AS IT IMPACTED PORTIONS OF THE PAPAHANAUMOKUAKEA MARINE  
NATIONAL MONUMENT, THEN DEGENERATED TO A POST-TROPICAL REMNANT LOW  
JUST PRIOR TO CROSSING THE INTERNATIONAL DATE LINE.
