DISCUSSION

THE COLD FRONT WHICH MOVED ACROSS NORTHERN UTAH LAST EVENING
WILL SAG SLOWLY INTO THE SOUTHERN MOUNTAINS TODAY. THERE IS JUST ENOUGH
MOISTURE AND CONVERGENCE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS COLD FRONT THAT I CAN NOT
RULE OUT AN ISOLATED SHOWER OR THUNDERSTORM THIS AFTERNOON.
OTHERWISE, EXPECT WINDS TO BE SOMEWHAT OF CHALLENGE TODAY WITH TERRAIN
INFLUENCES POSSIBLY BECOMING AN ISSUE. THE SURFACE GRADIENT WOULD TYPICALLY
SUPPORT A NORTHERLY COMPONENT, BUT THE WINDS ALOFT ARE WESTERLY. I BELIEVE
THE NORTHWEST TO NORTH WINDS MAY BE DOMINANT AT LIGHT SPEEDS THIS MORNING, BUT
BY 1100-1200 THE WEST SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL TAKE CHARGE AND GRADUALLY BECOME
WEST NORTHWEST BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON.
