SCATTERED CLOUDS WERE OBSERVED OVER MOST OF THE TRI-STATE AREA  
TODAY. A PASSING COLD FRONT IS HELPING TO COOL OFF TEMPERATURES  
FARTHER NORTH AND WEST WHILE HOT CONDITIONS STILL REMAIN FARTHER  
SOUTH AND WEST TOWARD CENTRAL KANSAS. WINDS BEHIND THE COLD FRONT  
WERE GENERALLY FROM THE NORTHEAST AT 20 MPH GUSTING TO 30 MPH. AS  
OF 2 PM MDT, TEMPERATURES RANGED FROM 88 DEGREES IN ST. FRANCIS,  
KANSAS TO 101 DEGREES IN HILL CITY, KANSAS.  
 
OUTLOOK... HOT CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON FOR  
COUNTIES TOWARD CENTRAL KANSAS AS HEAT INDEX VALUES APPROACH 105  
DEGREES. GROUPS SENSITIVE TO HEAT SHOULD AVOID GOING OUTDOORS THIS  
AFTERNOON. ALL THOSE OUTSIDE SHOULD TAKE FREQUENT BREAKS INSIDE  
AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.  
 
SEVERE WEATHER WILL BE POSSIBLE THIS EVENING AND INTO THE  
OVERNIGHT HOURS AS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS FORM IN EAST-CENTRAL  
COLORADO AND SLOWLY PROGRESS EASTWARD OVERNIGHT. THE MAIN HAZARDS  
FOR THESE STORMS ARE DAMAGING WIND GUSTS UP TO 70 MPH AND  
LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING FROM HEAVY RAIN.  
 
COOLER TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED SUNDAY WITH HIGHS GENERALLY IN  
THE UPPER 70S TO LOW 80S. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE  
POSSIBLE GENERALLY ALONG AND SOUTH OF I-70 SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND  
EVENING, BUT NO SEVERE WEATHER IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME FOR  
SUNDAY. DRIER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK AS  
TEMPERATURES SLOWLY CREEP BACK UP TO THE LOWER 90S ACROSS THE
