NORTH PLATTE RIVER AT SARATOGA AFFECTING CARBON COUNTY  
   
HYDROLOGIC SUMMARY
 
 
A RELATIVELY QUIET PERIOD OF WEATHER WILL PREVAIL OVER THE NEXT 24 TO  
48 HOURS, WITH ABOVE NORMAL CHANCES FOR PRECIPITATION RETURNING TO  
SOUTHEAST WYOMING FROM FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY. A CONTINUED GRADUAL RISE  
CAN BE EXPECTED FOR THE NORTH PLATTE RIVER AT SARATOGA, WITH RIVER  
LEVELS STILL EXPECTED TO RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL  
DAYS. A CREST APPEARS MOST LIKELY TO OCCUR EARLY TO MID NEXT WEEK. IN  
ADDITION, CONSIDERABLE SNOW PACK STILL EXISTS ABOVE 9000 FEET WHICH  
MAY AGITATE CONCERNS WITH ANY PROLONGED PERIODS OF WET CONDITIONS OR  
EXCESSIVE WARMTH IN THE COMING WEEKS.  
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...  
 
DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED AREAS. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND. THE WATER  
MAY BE DEEP ENOUGH TO FLOAT YOU AND YOUR VEHICLE. TURN AROUND, DON'T  
DROWN.

THE NORTH PLATTE RIVER AT SARATOGA.  
* THE LATEST STAGE IS 8.1 FEET AT 10 AM WEDNESDAY.  
* MINOR FLOODING IS FORECAST, WITH A MAXIMUM STAGE OF 8.7 FEET, WHICH  
IS 0.2 FEET ABOVE FLOOD STAGE.  
* THE RIVER WILL RISE ABOVE THE FLOOD STAGE OF 8.5 FEET AT 06 PM  
FRIDAY.  
* THE RIVER WILL FALL BELOW FLOOD STAGE AT 12 AM TUESDAY.  
* IMPACT...AT 9.0 FEET...FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS AT THE DEER HAVEN  
RV PARK INTENSIFIES AND BECOMES MORE WIDESPREAD. STANDING WATER  
INUNDATES YARDS OF HOMES ALONG THE RIVER IN TOWN. FLOOD WATERS  
BEGIN IMPACTING ACCESS TO VETERANS ISLAND PARK. THE GOLF COURSE  
NEAR THE SARATOGA INN BECOMES INUNDATED WITH WATER.  
* FLOOD HISTORY...THIS CREST COMPARES TO A PREVIOUS CREST OF 8.7 FEET  
ON JUN 14 1965.
