FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL/NORTHERN VERMONT AND
NORTHERN NEW YORK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BURLINGTON VT
357 AM EDT MON OCT 18 2021

..BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY VALUES TODAY

DISCUSSION

NORTHWEST FLOW ALOFT HAS BECOME ESTABLISHED ACROSS THE AREA EARLY
THIS MORNING. THIS PATTERN WILL BRING BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES,
PLENTY OF CLOUD COVER, HIGH HUMIDITY VALUES, AND ISOLATED TO
SCATTERED SHOWERS TO MUCH OF THE REGION. THE GREATEST
CONCENTRATION OF THE PRECIPITATION WILL BE OVER HIGHER TERRAIN AS
WELL AS NORTHEAST VERMONT. AMOUNTS WILL GENERALLY BE A TENTH OF AN
INCH OR LESS AND WITH COLD AIR ALOFT THE HIGHER SUMMITS SHOULD SEE
PRECIPITATION IN THE FORM OF LIGHT SNOW. THUS NO FIRE WEATHER
CONCERNS ARE EXPECTED FOR TODAY. HIGH PRESSURE WILL SLOWLY BUILD
INTO THE REGION FROM THE WEST AND NORTHWEST ON TUESDAY. A SLOW
WARMING AND DRYING TREND WILL TAKE PLACE OVER ALL BY NORTHEAST
VERMONT WHERE CLOUDS AND A FEW SHOWERS WILL PERSIST. FIRE WEATHER
CONCERNS WILL CONTINUE TO BE AT A MINIMUM. TEMPERATURES WILL
RETURN TO SEASONAL NORMALS ON WEDNESDAY WITH DRY WEATHER
CONTINUING. A COLD FRONT WILL APPROACH THE AREA FROM THE WEST ON
THURSDAY. ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED AHEAD OF THE
FRONT, BUT PRECIPITATION CHANCES WILL BE INCREASING AS THE DAY
WEARS ON. WITHOUT ANY EXTENDED PERIOD OF DRYING AND MINIMUM
RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES REMAINING ABOVE ANY CRITICAL LEVELS NO
FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS ARE EXPECTED FOR THE MIDDLE TO LATTER PART
OF THE WEEK AS WELL.
