SHORT TERM

(TODAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY)
ISSUED AT 333 AM CST TUE DEC 17 2024

KEY MESSAGES:

- DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH 11AM

- STRONG COLD FRONT EXPECTED TOMORROW

AS WINDS CALMED OVERNIGHT ACROSS SOUTH TEXAS, SOME AREAS HAVE SEEN
RADIATION FOG DEVELOPING THUS DETERIORATING CONDITIONS. AS A
RESULT OF THIS, PORTIONS OF THE BRUSH COUNTRY TO THE VICTORIA
CROSSROADS HAVE BEEN PLACED UNDER A DENSE FOG ADVISORY THROUGH
11AM THIS MORNING. FOG SHOULD BEGIN TO DISSIPATE AROUND MID
MORNING WHICH LEAVES THE POSSIBILITY FOR THE ADVISORY TO BE
CANCELLED SOONER, THOUGH CONFIDENCE IS LOW AT THIS TIME. THE
REMAINDER OF THE DAY SHOULD YIELD WARM CONDITIONS YET AGAIN UNDER
PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES SINCE WE ARE STILL UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF THE
SURFACE HIGH CENTRALIZED OVER DIXIE ALLEY. OVERNIGHT, MODELS ARE
HINTING AT ANOTHER RADIATION FOG EPISODE WHICH WILL LIKELY LEAD TO
ANOTHER DENSE FOG ADVISORY ACROSS THE REGION. WEDNESDAY WILL BE
WARM ONCE AGAIN WITH HIGHS IN THE 80S AHEAD OF THE FRONT. THE COLD
FRONT WILL BEGIN TO SWEEP THROUGH THE CWA BEGINNING AROUND MIDDAY
TOMORROW CLEARING THE REGION BY THE EVENING. TEMPERATURES WILL
BECOME SEASONAL ONCE AGAIN IN THE WAKE OF THE FRONT.

LONG TERM

(WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH NEXT MONDAY)

THE LONG TERM IN THE WAKE OF THE COLD FRONT. THESE COOLER
TEMPERATURES WILL HANG AROUND THROUGH SATURDAY WITH TEMPERATURES
BEGINNING TO GRADUALLY INCREASE ONCE AGAIN SUNDAY AS ONSHORE FLOW
RETURNS. AS ONSHORE FLOW ADVECTS WARMER AIR BACK INTO THE REGION
EARLY NEXT WEEK, TEMPERATURES ARE ONCE AGAIN EXPECTED TO CLIMB TO
THE WELL ABOVE AVERAGE CATEGORY WITH HIGHS IN THE MID TO UPPER 70S
EARLY NEXT WEEK.
