SHORT TERM

(TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY)
ISSUED AT 211 AM CST FRI JAN 17 2025

WITH RIDGING OVERHEAD, WE'LL KEEP ANOTHER QUIET DAY IN THE
FORECAST. A SOUTHERLY FLOW AT THE SURFACE WILL KICK IN TODAY WITH
INCREASING MOISTURE AND DEWPOINTS APPROACHING 60 BY THE END OF
THE DAY. EXPECT PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES AND WARMER TEMPERATURES WITH
HIGHS IN THE 70S AREAWIDE. THE AFOREMENTIONED INCREASED MOISTURE
WILL BRING A CHANCE FOR FOG TONIGHT. WHILE DEWPOINTS WILL BE WELL
ABOVE SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURES, THINK SEA FOG WILL BE HELD DOWN BY
A MORE SOUTHERLY WIND (RATHER THAN SOUTHEAST). INLAND FOG WILL BE
EXPECTED THOUGH WITH SOME AREAS POTENTIALLY BECOMING DENSE.

BEFORE SUNRISE SATURDAY WE'LL BE WATCHING OUR COLD FRONT PUSH INTO
THE AREA WITH RAPIDLY DECREASING DEWPOINTS. HOWEVER, THE REALLY
COLD AIR WILL BE ASSOCIATED WITH A REINFORCING SURGE OF HIGH
PRESSURE IN THE LONG TERM PERIOD. WE'LL STAY WARM ON SATURDAY WITH
HIGHS AGAIN IN THE 70S FOR MUCH OF THE AREA.

LONG TERM

(SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH NEXT THURSDAY)
ISSUED AT 211 AM CST FRI JAN 17 2025

- WINTRY PRECIPITATION POSSIBLE MAINLY ALONG AND WEST OF I-77
BEGINNING MONDAY EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY

- WIDESPREAD FREEZING TEMPERATURES EXPECTED THROUGH MIDWEEK

THE FORECAST IS REMAINING RATHER TRICKY AS WE NEAR NEXT WEEK. A
STRONG COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO PUSH THROUGH THE REGION THAT WILL
DROP TEMPERATURES SATURDAY NIGHT AND PERSIST THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF
NEXT WEEK. TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO DROP FURTHER AS WE ENTER THE
BEGINNING OF NEXT WEEK AS REINFORCING COLD AIR MOVES INTO THE
REGION SUNDAY MORNING. HIGHS WILL BE LIMITED TO THE 40S AND 50S
SUNDAY AND MONDAY AS COASTAL TROUGH NUDGES INTO THE REGION FROM
THE SOUTH. THIS IS EXPECTED TO ADVECT MOISTURE INTO THE REGION
DURING THE DAY MONDAY AND PERSIST THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING. THIS
WILL ALLOW FOR SHOWERS BEGINNING AROUND MIDDAY MONDAY, THOUGH AS
WE BEGIN TO COOL MONDAY EVENING INTO MONDAY NIGHT THIS COULD
TRANSITION TO MORE OF A WINTRY MIX IN THE NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE
REGION TRENDING SOUTHWARDS OVERNIGHT. LOW TEMPERATURES WILL DROP
INTO THE 20S ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA WITH LOWER 30S TOWARDS THE
COAST AS WE HEAD INTO TUESDAY MORNING. PER SOUNDINGS, WINTRY
PRECIPITATION IS MORE LIKELY ALONG AND WEST OF I-77, THOUGH SOME
WINTRY PRECIPITATION FURTHER SOUTH AND EAST CANNOT BE COMPLETELY
RULED OUT IT REMAINS NOT LIKELY. FREEZING RAIN WILL BE THE MOST
LIKELY RESULT WE WILL SEE ACROSS THE REGION THOUGH THERE WILL BE A
LOW CHANCE WE COULD SEE SOME SNOW (AROUND 20 TO 30 PERCENT),
THOUGH THIS WILL BE MOST LIKELY IN THE VICTORIA CROSSROADS.
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO WANE AS WE REACH MIDDAY TUESDAY.
REGARDLESS, THESE CONDITIONS WILL LIKELY LEAD TO A SLEW OF WINTER
PRODUCTS NEXT WEEK SO CONTINUE TO CHECK BACK FOR FUTURE UPDATES AS
THIS IS STILL A FEW DAYS OUT.

AS PRECIP ENDS AND CONDITIONS DRY OUT TUESDAY AFTERNOON/EVENING,
THE COLDEST NIGHT OF THE WEEK LOOKS TO BE TUESDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY
WEDNESDAY WHERE TEMPERATURES COULD FALL INTO THE 20S EVEN INTO THE
COASTAL BEND - THOUGH WITHIN A FEW MILES OF THE COAST, EXPECT
TEMPS TO STAY IN THE 30. LOW TEMPERATURES IN THE 30S WILL CONTINUE
THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK, BUT HIGHS WILL WARM INTO THE 50S.

ONE THING WORTH MENTIONING WILL BE THAT THERE IS STILL A GOOD AMOUNT
OF UNCERTAINTY WITH THIS FORECAST. WHAT IS REMAINING CONSISTENT IS
THERE WILL BE EXTENDED PERIODS OF TEMPERATURES BELOW OR AROUND
FREEZING. WITH THIS BEING SAID, MAKE SURE TO PLAN ACCORDINGLY AND
PROTECT PIPES, PEOPLE, PETS, AND PLANTS.

AVIATION

(12Z TAFS)
ISSUED AT 531 AM CST FRI JAN 17 2025

VFR CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL ACROSS AREA TERMINALS THROUGH THIS
EVENING. THEN, EASTERN SITES ARE FORECAST TO FALL INTO A MIXTURE
OF MVFR TO IFR LEVELS PAST MIDNIGHT TONIGHT AHEAD OF AN ADVANCING
COLD FRONT. PATCHY TO AREAS OF FOG WILL DEVELOP OVERNIGHT LEADING
TO VISIBILITY RESTRICTIONS DOWN TO 1 MILE OR LESS AT ALI/VCT
SITES. ACROSS THE WEST, VFR CONDITIONS WILL PERSIST. IN REGARDS
TO THE WINDS, THESE WILL REMAIN LIGHT AND VARIABLE THROUGH THE
MORNING, BEFORE BECOMING BREEZY OUT OF THE SOUTH THIS AFTERNOON.
WINDS WILL DECOUPLE BY THE LATE AFTERNOON INTO THE EARLY EVENING
HOURS, AND BECOME LIGHT AGAIN BY EARLY SATURDAY MORNING.

MARINE

ISSUED AT 211 AM CST FRI JAN 17 2025

ONSHORE FLOW PERSISTS TODAY AT MODERATE LEVELS. A COLD FRONT
PUSHES OFFSHORE ON SATURDAY WITH INITIALLY MODERATE NORTHERLY
WINDS. BY SATURDAY NIGHT, WINDS INCREASE TO STRONG LEVELS WITH
A FEW GUSTS NEAR GALE FORCE SUNDAY. AFTER A BRIEF LULL, STRONG
NORTHEASTERLY FLOW DEVELOPS MONDAY AND PERSISTS THROUGH THE MIDDLE
OF THE WEEK AS A COASTAL TROUGH DEVELOPS. GUSTS TO GALE FORCE WILL
BE POSSIBLE MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY. MODERATE NORTHEAST FLOW
SHIFTS MORE SOUTHEASTERLY WEDNESDAY. RAIN CHANCES ARE MODERATE TO
HIGH MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY, THEN DECREASE LATER IN THE WEEK.
