..NEW AVIATION
SHORT TERM
(TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT)
ISSUED AT 134 AM CDT SAT MAR 29 2025
KEY MESSAGES:
- PATCHY FOG EXPECTED THIS MORNING
SATURATED SOILS, SUFFICIENT LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE, LIGHT WINDS, AND
DRY AIR ALOFT WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF FOG. SOME
LOCATIONS MAY EXPERIENCE DENSE FOG WITH VISIBILITY 1/4 MILE OR
LESS. A DENSE FOG ADVISORY MAY BECOME NECESSARY BUT CONFIDENCE IN
OUR FICKLE FOG WILL KEEP ME FROM ISSUING ONE UNTIL WE SEE IF IT
DECIDES TO DEVELOP.
OTHERWISE, THE SHORT TERM FORECAST IS QUIET. TEMPERATURES WILL
BE WARM TODAY AND SUNDAY, WITH HIGHS IN THE LOW 80S ALONG THE
COAST TO LOW 90S ACROSS THE WEST UNDER MOSTLY CLEAR TO PARTLY
CLOUDY SKIES.
FOR THOSE HEADING TO THE BEACH, THERE IS MODERATE RIP CURRENT RISK
IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY. WITH SWELL PERIODS OF AROUND 8-9S, NOT
ONLY WITH THE RISK OF RIP CURRENTS INCREASE, THERE IS A LOW CHANCE
FOR MINOR COASTAL FLOODING. WE'LL KEEP MONITORING TO SEE IF WE
START TO SEE ANY IMPACTS FROM THESE WAVE PERIODS.
LONG TERM
(MONDAY THROUGH NEXT FRIDAY)
ISSUED AT 134 AM CDT SAT MAR 29 2025
FOR THE LONG TERM FORECAST, THE SYNOPTIC PATTERN WILL FEATURE A
QUASI-ZONAL FLOW THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK BEFORE A MID-
LEVEL LOW SWEEPS ACROSS THE NORTHERN PLAINS ON WEDNESDAY. THIS
WILL RESULT IN SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW ALOFT THROUGHOUT THE REST OF
THE PERIOD.
THE AFOREMENTIONED LOW WILL SEND A FRONTAL BOUNDARY SOUTH ACROSS
THE REGION EARLY IN THE WEEK ON MONDAY. AROUND MID-WEEK A DRYLINE
APPROACHES THE CWA FROM THE WEST BUT AM NOT CONFIDENT THAT IT WILL
MAKE IT ACROSS THE REGION. LATE IN THE FORECAST PERIOD, ANOTHER
FRONT APPROACHES SOUTH TEXAS BUT MORE ON THAT WITH A FUTURE
FORECAST PACKAGE.
THERE ARE NO HAZARDS CURRENTLY EXPECTED FROM THE FRONTAL BOUNDARIES
WHICH WILL MAINLY BE A WIND SHIFT. EXPECT WINDS TO SHIFT MONDAY,
WEDNESDAY, AND THURSDAY WITH BREEZY CONDITIONS OF GENERALLY <15
MPH. ALSO, WITH EACH FRONTAL PASSAGE, HAVE A SLIGHT INCREASE IN
POPS BUT CHANCES ARE VERY LOW (<10%) THROUGHOUT THE PERIOD.
EXPECT AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES TO RANGE IN THE 80S TO 90S.
WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY WILL BE THE WARMEST WITH HIGHS FLIRTING WITH
TRIPLE DIGITS ACROSS THE WESTERN BRUSH COUNTRY. LOWS WILL RANGE
60S WITH MUCH OF THE REGION ONLY DROPPING TO THE LOW 70S TUESDAY
NIGHT/EARLY WEDNESDAY.
AVIATION
(18Z TAFS)
ISSUED AT 1242 PM CDT SAT MAR 29 2025
VFR CONDITIONS HAVE RETURNED TO ALL SITES AT THIS TIME AND WILL
PERSIST THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EVENING. BY LATE
EVENING INTO TONIGHT VCT WILL LIKELY PICK UP AN IFR TO LIFR CIG
THAT WILL LAST THROUGH THE NIGHT. OTHER EASTERN SITES WILL ALSO
DEVELOP A MAINLY IFR CIG A BIT LATER. FOG IS LIKELY OVER THE GULF
WATERS AND IN THE BAYS, AND COULD SPREAD INLAND TO MAINLY CRP AND
VCT SITES, BUT HAVE NOT INDICATED A SIGNIFICANT VIS RESTRICTION
AT THIS TIME WITH WINDS REMAINING ELEVATED. CONDITIONS IMPROVE
DURING THE DAY SUNDAY. A BOUNDARY LOOKS TO MOVE TOWARD THE WESTERN
TERMINALS AND WOULD LIKELY SHIFT WINDS NORTH AT THE END OF THE
PERIOD.
MARINE
ISSUED AT 134 AM CDT SAT MAR 29 2025
ELEVATED SEAS OF 6-7 FEET WILL CONTINUE THROUGH EARLY THIS MORNING
ACROSS THE OFFSHORE WATERS, PROMPTING A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY
THROUGH 9 AM. A SOUTH TO SOUTHEASTERLY GENTLE TO MODERATE (BF
3/4) BREEZE WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT BEFORE A WEAK
FRONT MOVES INTO THE AREA MONDAY, TURNING WINDS TO THE WEST, THEN
TO THE NORTH AND NORTHEAST. AN ONSHORE GENTLE TO MODERATE BREEZE
RETURNS TUESDAY, STRENGTHENING TO A MODERATE TO FRESH (BF 4/5)
BREEZE EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. THERE ARE NO CHANCES OF
PRECIPITATION UNTIL NEXT SATURDAY.
