KEY MESSAGES

FORECAST. THURSDAY IS THE WARMEST DAY.

- ACTIVE UPPER LEVEL WEATHER PATTERN, BUT THE FORECAST REMAINS
DRY WITH NO ACCUMULATING PRECIPITATION.

DISCUSSION

ISSUED AT 240 PM CST SUN DEC 15 2024

AFTER A FOGGY MORNING ACROSS MOST OF THE FORECAST AREA, THE
CLOUDS HAVE SCATTERED AND THE SUN SHINES. TEMPERATURES ACROSS
THE AREA HAVE RISEN NICELY AFTER A COOL DREARY START. WHERE THE
LOW CLOUDS LINGERED LONGEST, HIGHS WILL BE IN THE LOW TO MID
40S, BUT WHERE THE SUN HAS BEEN SHINING (GENERALLY WEST OF HWY
183 AND SOUTH OF HWY 36 IN KS) WILL SEE HIGHS IN THE LOW 50S.

TONIGHT, AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH WILL TRAVERSE THE AREA, BUT
MOISTURE WILL BE LIMITED. MUCH OF THE GUIDANCE KEEPS
PRECIPITATION AT BAY, BUT THERE IS A SMALL (LESS THAN 15%
CHANCE) OF BRIEF SNOWFALL AS THE MAIN UPPER UPPER SYSTEM MOVES
OVERHEAD DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. FEEL THIS WILL REALLY STAY
NORTH OF I-80 AND WILL AMOUNT TO FLURRIES OR LIGHT SPRINKLES AT
THE MOST. THE IMPACT OF THIS WILL BE VERY LOW AND BRIEF.

THE NEXT DISTURBANCE TO APPROACH FROM THE NORTHWEST WILL BRING
CLOUDY SKIES AND A COOL FRONT ON TUESDAY. HIGHS ON TUESDAY WILL
BE 40S TO 50S, BUT AFTER THE COOL FRONT, HIGHS ON WEDNESDAY WILL
DROP INTO THE 40S ACROSS THE AREA.

THURSDAY WILL BE THE WARMEST DAY OF THE NEXT WORK-WEEK WITH
HIGHS IN THE 50S FOR MOST WITH THE AID OF RETURN FLOW AND SOME
DOWNSLOPE BEHIND A WIND SHIFT WITH THE NEXT IN A STEAD LINE OF
DISTURBANCES.

THE NEXT WEEKEND LOOKS COOLER (HIGHS IN THE 40S) UNDER
NORTHWEST FLOW WITH SOME ARCTIC AIR MOVING SOUTHWARD.
