SHORT TERM

(TODAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT)
ISSUED AT 346 AM CST THU DEC 19 2024

NORTHWESTERLY FLOW WILL PREVAIL OVER THE AREA TODAY AND CONTRIBUTE TO
COOLER TEMPERATURES FOR TODAY. HIGHS ACROSS THE AREA WILL BE IN THE
60S AND NEAR NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR (FINALLY!). BUILDING HIGH
PRESSURE AT THE SURFACE WILL RESULT IN A DECREASE IN CLOUD COVER
TODAY. CONTINUED OFFSHORE FLOW AND CAA COUPLED WITH MOSTLY CLEAR TO
CLEAR SKIES TONIGHT WILL ENHANCE RADIATIONAL COOLING AND ALLOW
TEMPERATURES TO DROP INTO THE 40S FOR MOST OF THE AREA.

FRIDAY WILL FEATURE ANOTHER DAY OF NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND
MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES WITH HIGH PRESSURE CONTINUING TO REIGN OVER SE
TEXAS. SLIGHTLY COOLER LOWS ON TAP FOR FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY
MORNING AS TEMPERATURES IN THE BRAZOS VALLEY AND PINEY WOODS AREA
DROP INTO THE LOW TO MID 30S. CLOSER TO THE METRO AND IN THE COASTAL
PLAINS TEMPERATURES WILL DROP INTO THE UPPER 30S TO LOW 40S. ALONG
THE COAST OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURES WILL DROP INTO THE MID TO UPPER
40S.

LONG TERM

(SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY)
ISSUED AT 346 AM CST THU DEC 19 2024

THE WEEKEND STILL LOOKS QUIET AND COOL AS HIGH PRESSURE RIDGING INTO
THE AREA FROM THE NORTH EDGES OFF TO THE EAST. THIS WILL ALLOW FOR
THE RETURN OF EAST WINDS ON SATURDAY AND EAST TO SOUTHEAST WINDS ON
SUNDAY. THIS FLOW WILL RETURN SOME CLOUDS TO THE AREA BEGINNING ON
SUNDAY WITH INCREASING COVERAGE HEADING INTO MONDAY AND TUESDAY. CURRENTLY,
THE FORECAST CALLS FOR RAIN CHANCES TO RETURN/INCREASE ACROSS SOUTHEAST
TEXAS ON TUESDAY AND TUESDAY NIGHT AS THE NEXT STORM SYSTEM MOVES ACROSS
THE STATE. TIMING AND STRENGTH CHANGES OF THIS SYSTEM WILL LIKELY OCCUR
OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS, SO KEEP AN EYE ON THE FORECASTS IF YOU
HAPPEN TO HAVE ANY CHRISTMAS EVE/DAY PLANS.

FOR TEMPERATURES, THE WEEKEND STARTS COLD WITH SATURDAY MORNING'S LOWS
RANGING FROM NEAR FREEZING IN/AROUND THE PINEY WOODS AREA TO THE 30S/40S
ELSEWHERE. SATURDAY'S HIGHS WILL GENERALLY BE IN AN UPPER 50S TO MID
60S RANGE. SUNDAY MORNING'S LOWS WILL NOT DIP AS LOW AS THE PREVIOUS
MORNING, WITH READINGS RANGING FROM THE MID TO UPPER 30S TO THE MID
TO UPPER 40S. THOSE EAST TO SOUTHEAST WINDS ON SUNDAY WILL HELP TO BOOST
AFTERNOON HIGHS INTO THE 60S AREA WIDE. THIS WARMING TREND CONTINUES
INTO THE FIRST HALF OF THE WEEK WITH LOWS GENERALLY IN THE 50S AND
HIGHS GENERALLY IN THE 70S.

AVIATION

(06Z TAF ISSUANCE)
ISSUED AT 1127 PM CST WED DEC 18 2024

THE PRIMARY CONCERN FOR TONIGHT IS THE MVFR CLOUD DECK THAT IS
LURKING TO OUR EAST. SIGNALS ARE QUITE MIXED REGARDING HOW MUCH OF
THESE CLOUDS WILL PUSH INTO OUR AREA. WE KEPT A PERIOD OF
PREVAILING MVFR FOR OUR SOUTHEASTERN TERMINALS WITH MVFR TEMPO
GROUPS IN OTHER TAF SITES. BUT IT MUST BE STRESSED THAT THE CIG
FORECAST IS MORE UNCERTAIN THAN USUAL, ESPECIALLY IN THE HOUSTON
AREA. AMENDMENTS ARE CERTAINLY POSSIBLE. ANY MVFR CIGS ARE
EXPECTED TO BE GONE BY MID- MORNING (~15Z). OTHERWISE, MOSTLY VFR
CONDITIONS AND LIGHT WINDS ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THE REST OF THE
TAF PERIOD.

MARINE

ISSUED AT 346 AM CST THU DEC 19 2024

DECREASING NORTH WINDS AND LOWERING SEAS CAN BE EXPECTED TODAY. THIS
OFFSHORE FLOW WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK WITH WINDS BECOMING

THE NEXT BEST CHANCE OF RAIN IS AROUND TUESDAY OR TUESDAY NIGHT. 42
