A CLIPPER SYSTEM WAS RACING SOUTHEAST OVER THE NORTHERN PLAINS EARLY
THIS MORNING. THIS WILL HELP DRIVE A COLD FRONT SOUTHWARD OVER THE
CENTRAL PLAINS TONIGHT. MEANWHILE, PATCHY FOG HAS DEVELOPED
OVER PARTS OF SOUTHEAST KS AND THIS ACTIVITY IS EXPECTED TO MID
OUT EARLY IN THE PERIOD TODAY. THE STRONGEST H85 COLD AIR
ADVECTION IS PROGGED TO REMAIN NORTH AND EAST OF OUR AREA
TONIGHT AND FRIDAY BUT WE STILL EXPECT A PRETTY DECENT SHOT OF
COLD AIR. HIGHS ON FRIDAY ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN IN THE MID AND
UPPER 30S FOR MOST AREAS WHICH IS BELOW NORMAL FOR LATE DEC.

SAT-SUN...A MID/UPPER RIDGE WILL IMPACT THE AREA ALLOWING
TEMPERATURES TO MODERATE AS WE MOVE THROUGH THE WEEKEND WITH
HIGHS ON SUNDAY RETURNING TO THE 50S. DRY WEATHER IS EXPECTED TO
PREVAIL THIS WEEKEND.

AS WE MOVE INTO NEXT WEEK, WE EXPECT TO SEE A CONTINUATION OF ABOVE
NORMAL TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE AREA. ANOTHER PROGRESSIVE SHORTWAVE
TROUGH MOVING OVER THE NORTHERN PLAINS EARLY IN THE WEEK WILL BRING
A CHANCE OF LIGHT RAIN TO PARTS OF SOUTHEAST KS ON MON-MON NIGHT BUT
TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN WELL ABOVE FREEZING.

ANOTHER SHORTWAVE TROUGH IS PROGGED TO EMERGE FROM THE ROCKIES ON
LATE ON CHRISTMAS BRINGING ANOTHER CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION TO THE
AREA. WE CONTINUE TO SEE A WIDE RANGE OF SOLUTIONS IN THE PATH OF
THIS SYSTEM LEADING TO LOW CONFIDENCE IN THE DETAILS AT THIS
TIME.

ISSUED AT 1102 PM CST WED DEC 18 2024

SOME LIGHT PATCHY FOG HAS DEVELOPED ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL AND
SOUTHEAST KS THIS EVENING. IMPACTS TO VISIBILITY ARE EXPECTED TO BE
MINIMAL, THOUGH GIVEN THE SHORT-TERM SUITE'S INABILITY TO HANDLE
COVERAGE THUS FAR, DECIDED TO TEMPO BORDERLINE MVFR VSBYS AT CNU
THROUGH 09Z. OTHERWISE, VFR CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO PREVAIL AT
ALL SITES THROUGH THE REST OF THE PERIOD.

A SURFACE TROUGH IS EXPECTED TO PUSH ITS WAY THROUGH KS AND TURN
WINDS MORE WESTERLY/NORTHWESTERLY THROUGHOUT THE PERIOD. LLWS WILL
DEVELOP ALONG THIS BOUNDARY AND IMPACT SITES IN CENTRAL KS BEFORE
DISSIPATING AS THE DAY PROGRESSES.
