SURVEY SUMMARY:
A TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN NEAR HAMILTON EATON ROAD JUST NORTH OF NEW
MIAMI, OHIO, AND TRAVELED EAST-NORTHEAST. THE TORNADO CAUSED
DAMAGE TO SEVERAL MOBILE HOMES, SOME WITH SUBSTANTIAL ROOF AND
SIDING DAMAGE, AND AT LEAST 2 MOVED FROM THEIR FOUNDATION BUT
STILL STANDING. THERE WERE ALSO NUMEROUS TREES EITHER UPROOTED OR
WITH THE TOPS SNAPPED IN THIS AREA. ESTIMATED WIND DAMAGE IN THIS
AREA WAS 75 TO 80 MPH.

THE TORNADO CONTINUED ALONG TRENTON ROAD AND HAWKINS ROAD, WHERE
ADDITIONAL TREE DAMAGE OCCURRED. FROM THERE IT CROSSED WAYNE MADISON
ROAD, SNAPPING POWER POLES. ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TO OUTBUILDINGS OCCURRED
ALONG WOODSDALE ROAD.

THE TORNADO THEN MOVED ACROSS THE GREAT MIAMI RIVER AND CAUSED
DAMAGE TO SEVERAL HOMES IN A SUBDIVISION JUST EAST OF HAMILTON
MIDDLETOWN ROAD. HOMES ON AND NEAR HAILEY AND MICHELLE LANE AND
HOLLYBROOK DRIVE WERE DAMAGED. THERE WERE SOME HOMES WITH A
PORTION OF ROOF REMOVED, AND NUMEROUS HOMES WITH SHINGLES OR
FLASHING PEELED OFF. THERE WERE ALSO NUMEROUS TREES DOWN IN THIS
AREA.

THE DAMAGE EAST OF THIS SUBDIVISION WAS MUCH MORE SPOTTY
AND HAD A LESS DISTINCT PATH, SO WHILE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED IN
ADDITIONAL SUBDIVISIONS NEAR MONROE HIGH SCHOOL, IT WAS CONCLUDED
THAT THIS DAMAGE WAS DUE TO STRAIGHT LINE WINDS.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON WOULD LIKE TO THANK BUTLER
COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY FOR THEIR ASSISTANCE WITH THE
DAMAGE SURVEY.
