DISCUSSION

ISSUED AT 1045 PM EST SAT DEC 21 2024
A COOL DECEMBER EVENING HAS SETTLED IN ALONG THE FLORIDA KEYS.
TEMPERATURES ALONG THE ISLAND CHAIN ARE IN THE LOWER TO MID 60S
WITH DRY DEWPOINTS IN THE UPPER 40S TO LOWER 50S. THE ATMOSPHERE
IS NOT JUST DRY AT THE SURFACE HOWEVER, AS THIS EVENINGS 00Z KKEY
SOUNDING NOTES A LARGE POCKET OF DRY AIR ABOVE THE CLOUD LAYER AT
925 MB. THE SOUNDING'S PW CLOCKS IN AT 0.47 INCHES (ABOUT 0.3
INCHES LESS THAN 24 HOURS AGO), EASILY FALLING BELOW THE 10TH
PERCENTILE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. AS A RESULT, NO PRECIPITABLE
ECHOES ARE CURRENTLY DETECTED ON KBYX RADAR, THOUGH GOES NIGHTTIME
MICROPHYSICS IMAGERY DOES NOTE SOME HIGH CLOUDS STREAKING THROUGH
ALOFT.

NOT MUCH CHANGE IS EXPECTED IN THE SHORT TERM. THE DEEP MID
LATITUDE SYSTEM THAT DRAGGED YESTERDAY'S COLD FRONT THROUGH WILL
CONTINUE TO EXIT THE NORTHEAST US EAST INTO THE NORTH ATLANTIC.
MEANWHILE, HIGH PRESSURE WILL START BUILDING IN ACROSS THE EASTERN
SEA FROM THE CENTRAL PLAINS AND GREAT LAKES. THIS WILL RETAIN
GENTLE TO MODERATE NORTHERLY BREEZES ALONG WITH DRY AND SOMEWHAT
COOLER CONDITIONS WITH SUNDAY'S HIGH TEMPERATURES FORECAST TO BE
NEAR 70 DEGREES. NEAR NIL POPS WILL PERSIST INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK
BEFORE A SHIFT TO MORE EASTERLY WINDS BRINGS MOISTURE BACK INTO
THE PICTURE. AS SUCH THE FORECAST IS ON TRACK WITH NO CHANGES
NECESSARY AT THIS TIME.

MARINE

ISSUED AT 1045 PM EST SAT DEC 21 2024
NO WATCHES, WARNINGS, OR ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT FOR THE COASTAL
WATERS OF THE FLORIDA KEYS. FROM SYNOPSIS, A BROAD HIGH PRESSURE
SYSTEM WILL SLIDE TO THE EAST ACROSS THE EASTERN UNITED STATES
TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY, RESULTING IN BREEZES BOXING TO THE
NORTHEAST. EARLY NEXT WEEK A COASTAL TROUGH WILL DEVELOP FROM THE
CAROLINAS SOUTH TO THE FLORIDA PENINSULA. THIS MAY RESULT IN A
BRIEF PERIOD OF DIMINISHED BREEZES. A SECOND HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM
WILL SETTLE INTO THE EASTERN SEABOARD WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY
RESULTING IN ANOTHER PERIOD OF FRESHENING BREEZES WITH THE
POTENTIAL FOR FRESH TO OCCASIONALLY STRONG BREEZES BY NEXT
WEEKEND.

AVIATION
