EFFECT.

SHORT TERM

(TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON)
ISSUED AT 229 AM CST WED DEC 18 2024

A COLD FRONT IS QUICKLY ADVANCING SOUTH THROUGH OUR REGION EARLY
THIS MORNING. BREEZY NORTHEAST WINDS ARE FOUND BEHIND THIS COLD
FRONT. THESE WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BE CHANNELED THROUGH GUADALUPE
PASS THIS MORNING WHERE A HIGH WIND WARNING IS IN EFFECT. ACTUAL
TEMPERATURES WILL NOT BE OVERLY COLD BEHIND THE FRONT AS SCATTERED
CLOUDS AND STRONGER WINDS INHIBIT RADIATIONAL COOLING. EVERYONE IS
EXPECTED TO REMAIN ABOVE FREEZING WITH TEMPERATURES LARGELY IN THE
UPPER 30S TO LOWER 40S. DESPITE THIS, THE BREEZY WINDS ARE GOING TO
MAKE IT FEEL MUCH COLDER. BE SURE TO BUNDLE UP THIS MORNING. COLD
AIR ADVECTION WILL CONTINUE INTO THE AFTERNOON, BUT WINDS SLOWLY
WEAKEN AS THE COLD FRONT CONTINUES TO MOVE OUT OF THE REGION.
DESPITE THE COOLER WEATHER MOVING INTO THE REGION, WE ONLY RETURN TO
NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES. WIDESPREAD UPPER 50S AND LOWER 60S ARE
EXPECTED FOR ALL LATER THIS AFTERNOON. WINDS CONTINUE TO WEAK
TONIGHT AS SKIES CLEAR, SETTING THE STAGE FOR EXCELLENT RADIATIONAL
COOLING. IT IS LIKELY THAT ALMOST EVERYONE FALLS INTO THE 30S WITH
NEAR FREEZING TEMPERATURES LIKELY FOR THE NORTHERN HALF OF THE
REGION. WHILE A COLD START TO THURSDAY, CONTINUED SUNNY SKIES AND
THE RETURN OF SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL CAUSE A QUICK WARM UP. WE RETURN
TO TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 60S AND LOWER 70S BY THURSDAY
AFTERNOON, 10 TO 15 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL ONCE MORE.

THE LONG TERM FORECAST HEADING INTO THE HOLIDAY WEEK REMAINS QUIET.
ANOTHER COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED LATE THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY MORNING.
ONCE AGAIN, THIS MERELY RESULTS IN NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES IN THE
UPPER 50S AND LOWER 60S BY FRIDAY AFTERNOON. BEYOND THIS, THIS
WEEKEND INTO THE FIRST HALF OF NEXT WEEK IS ON TRACK TO BE WARM AND
DRY FOR ALL. EACH AFTERNOON IS LIKELY TO SEE TEMPERATURES WELL INTO
THE 60S AND 70S UNDER SUNNY SKIES. EACH MORNING SHOULD LARGELY
REMAIN ABOVE FREEZING IN THE MIDDLE 30S TO LOWER 40S. LET'S JUST SAY
THAT OUTDOOR PLANS THIS WEEKEND AND NEXT WEEK SHOULD BE BEAUTIFUL.
