A WARMING TREND WILL CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS, WITH HIGHS  
ON THURSDAY IN THE UPPER 50S TO AROUND 70 DEGREES. RAIN SHOWERS  
ARE TO MOVE ACROSS THE REGION FROM LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH  
FRIDAY WITH LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL POSSIBLE. DRY WEATHER WITH  
ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED FOR THE UPCOMING WEEKEND.

SKIES ARE CLEAR ACROSS MUCH OF THE MID-SOUTH EARLY THIS MORNING  
WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 20S TO MID 30S. SOME AREAS OF  
FREEZING FOG REMAIN OVER SOUTHERN SECTIONS OF MONROE COUNTY IN  
NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI WHERE A FREEZING FOG ADVISORY WILL REMAIN IN  
EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM THIS MORNING.  
 
HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN SOUTH OF THE REGION TODAY WITH DRY AND  
PLEASANT WEATHER FOR LATE JANUARY. TEMPERATURES WILL WARM UP TO  
ABOVE NORMAL READINGS BY THIS AFTERNOON WITH HIGHS IN THE MID TO  
UPPER 50S. THE DRY WEATHER PATTERN WILL CONTINUE FOR TONIGHT AND  
WEDNESDAY AS HIGH PRESSURE REMAINS OVER THE REGION. TEMPERATURES  
WILL BE MILDER TONIGHT WITH LOWS WEDNESDAY MORNING IN THE MID 30S  
TO LOWER 40S. WEDNESDAY WILL BE WARMER WITH HIGHS IN THE UPPER 50S  
TO MID 60S.  
 
A SURFACE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO NORTH TEXAS BY  
THURSDAY MORNING AND MOVE NORTHEAST REACHING WESTERN INDIANA BY  
FRIDAY MORNING. RAIN SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO FORM AHEAD OF THE  
COLD FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS LOW WITH RAIN MOVING INTO THE  
MID-SOUTH AS EARLY AS LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT. SHOWERS WILL BECOME  
WIDESPREAD OVER THE REGION ON THURSDAY WITH SOME ISOLATED  
THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE FOR THURSDAY NIGHT. THE MAIN THREAT WITH  
THIS STORM SYSTEM WILL BE LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL WITH RAINFALL  
TOTALS OF OVER 2" POSSIBLE BETWEEN LATE WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY  
MORNING. THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF EXCESSIVE RAINFALL ACROSS MUCH  
OF THE MID-SOUTH FOR THURSDAY.  
 
ONCE THE SURFACE LOW MOVES WELL EAST OF THE MID-SOUTH BY FRIDAY  
NIGHT, DRY WEATHER WILL RETURN TO THE REGION. WITH LITTLE IN THE  
WAY OF COLD AIR BEHIND THIS SYSTEM, ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES ARE  
EXPECTED FOR THE WEEKEND AND INTO MONDAY.
