SYNOPSIS  
 
ISSUED AT 305 AM CST WED JAN 29 2025  
 
DRY WEATHER WITH ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TODAY.  
RAIN SHOWERS WILL START TO MOVE INTO THE REGION TONIGHT AHEAD OF A  
LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM. SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE  
ACROSS THE MID-SOUTH ON THURSDAY BEFORE ENDING FRIDAY MORNING AS  
THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TRACKS THROUGH THE REGION. SOME LOCATIONS  
IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS AND THE MISSOURI BOOTHEEL COULD SEE OVER 2  
INCHES OF RAIN OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. DRY AND MILD WEATHER  
WILL RETURN FOR THE WEEKEND AND INTO THE BEGINNING OF NEXT WEEK  
WITH HIGHS MAINLY IN THE 50S AND 60S.

SKIES ARE MOSTLY CLEAR ACROSS THE MID-SOUTH EARLY THIS MORNING  
WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 30S TO UPPER 40S. CURRENTLY, HIGH  
PRESSURE WAS CENTERED OVER SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI.  
 
THIS HIGH WILL CONTINUE TO SLIDE EAST TODAY WITH DRY AND MILD  
WEATHER EXPECTED ACROSS THE REGION. TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN  
ABOVE NORMAL WITH HIGHS IN THE UPPER 50S TO LOWER 60S.  
 
A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE ACROSS NORTH TEXAS TONIGHT. RAIN  
SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP AHEAD OF THE LOW AND COULD START  
TO MOVE INTO SOUTHWEST SECTIONS OF THE MID-SOUTH BY EARLY THIS  
EVENING WITH SHOWERS BECOMING MORE WIDESPREAD OVERNIGHT. TEMPERATURES  
WILL REMAIN ABOVE NORMAL TONIGHT WITH LOWS THURSDAY MORNING IN  
THE UPPER 30S TO LOWER 50S.  
 
AS THE SURFACE LOW NORTHEAST ON THURSDAY FROM SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA  
INTO NORTHEAST ARKANSAS, MORE SHOWERS AND POSSIBLY A FEW  
THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE ACROSS THE REGION. SOME OF THE THUNDERSTORMS  
ACROSS SOUTHWEST SECTIONS OF THE MID-SOUTH COULD BE STRONG WITH  
SOME GUSTY WINDS POSSIBLE. RAINFALL COULD BE HEAVY AT TIMES OVER  
PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST ARKANSAS AND THE MISSOURI BOOTHEEL WHERE  
OVER 2" OF PRECIPITATION IS POSSIBLE. TEMPERATURES WILL BE QUITE  
WARM FOR LATE JANUARY WITH HIGHS ON THURSDAY IN THE LOWER 60S TO  
AROUND 70 DEGREES. SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL  
CONTINUE ACROSS THE REGION THURSDAY NIGHT AS THE SURFACE LOW PULLS  
NORTH OF THE REGION.  
 
BY FRIDAY MORNING, THE SURFACE LOW WILL BE OVER EAST-CENTRAL  
ILLINOIS WITH RAIN ENDING OVER THE EASTERN HALF OF THE MID-SOUTH.  
BY FRIDAY EVENING, THE UPPER LEVEL FLOW WILL BECOME MORE ZONAL.  
THIS WILL BRING A RETURN OF DRY AND MILD WEATHER TO THE REGION FOR  
THE WEEKEND. TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN ABOVE NORMAL TO START OFF  
FEBRUARY AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH AT LEAST TUESDAY.

SOUTHWEST WIND 5-7 KTS WILL VEER NORTHWEST BY MID-MORNING BEFORE  
BECOMING LIGHT AND VARIABLE LATE IN THE DAY. GENERALLY VFR  
CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL THROUGH THE NEXT 24 HOURS, THOUGH PATCHY  
FOG/STRATUS ARE POSSIBLE MAINLY SOUTH OF A CKM-TUP LINE LATE  
TONIGHT. MID-LEVEL CLOUDS WILL INCREASE WEDNESDAY, GRADUALLY  
LOWERING DURING THE EVENING HOURS WITH RAIN CHANCES ARRIVING BY  
06Z AT MEM/JBR. LOW CEILINGS ARE EXPECTED TO SPREAD EAST ACROSS  
THE MID-SOUTH LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
