WATER VAPOR IMAGERY HIGHLIGHTS A BROAD CYCLONIC GYRE OVER THE
EASTERN U.S., ROOTED NEAR THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY AND EXTENDING
SOUTH TO THE TIP OF SOUTHERN FLORIDA. A POTENT SWATH OF SUBSIDENCE
EXTENDS FROM THE RED RIVER VALLEY TO THE NORTHEASTERN GULF OF
MEXICO. NO WONDER SKIES ARE SUNNY AND THE KMOB RADAR IS VOID OF
ECHOES THIS AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE 60S ACROSS THE
AREA, COMPLIMENTED BY DEWPOINTS THAT HAVE FALLEN 10 DEGREES OR
MORE SINCE THIS MORNING. A COOL AND CRISP END TO THE WEEK.

THE CYCLONIC GYRE OVER THE EASTERN U.S. WILL SLIDE EAST OVER THE
WEEKEND, MEANWHILE THE CONTINENTAL-POLAR AIR MASS CENTERED OVER
THE CANADIAN PRAIRIES WILL SPILL TO THE SOUTHEAST INTO THE
APPALACHIANS. STRONG COLD AIR ADVECTION WILL DROP TEMPERATURES
BELOW FREEZING TONIGHT, EXCEPT FOR LOCATIONS ADJACENT TO THE GULF
OF MEXICO. INTERIOR LOCATIONS WILL FALL INTO THE UPPER 20S. AS THE
COOL AND DENSE AIR SPILLS INTO THE GULF, NORTHWEST TO NORTH WINDS
WILL PEAK IN THE LOW 20S KNOTS, SO A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IS IN
EFFECT. TEMPERATURES WILL CLIMB INTO THE 50S ON SATURDAY FOLLOWED
BY ANOTHER COLD NIGHT AMPLIFIED BY RADIATIONAL COOLING. SOME
INTERIOR LOCATIONS WILL FALL INTO THE MID 20S SATURDAY NIGHT.

THE WEAKENING REX BLOCK OVER THE WESTERN US WILL BREAKDOWN THIS
WEEKEND AS THE DISTAL END OF AN ATMOSPHERIC RIVER EVENT SMASHES
ACROSS THE SIERRA NEVADA AND ROCKY MOUNTAINS. A SERIES OF PACIFIC
SHORT WAVES WILL LOWER HEIGHTS ACROSS MEXICO AND THE SOUTHERN
PLAINS MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY. MEANWHILE, STEERING FLOW AND
SURFACE WINDS WILL SHIFT TO SOUTH OF EAST, LEADING TO A STEADY
MOISTENING OF THE VERTICAL PROFILE. RAIN AND THUNDER CHANCES WILL
RETURN TO THE FORECAST BY TUESDAY OR TUESDAY NIGHT. THE DETAILS
REMAIN MURKY FOR WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, ESPECIALLY GIVEN THE
SQUIRRELY PACIFIC SHORT WAVES IN THE SOUTHERN STREAM.
NEVERTHELESS, RAIN AND THUNDER CHANCES REMAIN INTO NEXT WEEKEND,
WITH NO SIGNS OF ADDITIONAL COLD FRONTS.

A MODERATE RISK OF RIP CURRENTS REMAINS FOR TUESDAY AND BEYOND DUE
TO THE ONSHORE FLOW. ADDITIONALLY, DEPENDING ON THE MESOSCALE
DETAILS OF OCCASIONAL PRECIPITATION, THE MOISTENING BOUNDARY
LAYER OVERTOP OF CHILLY NEARSHORE WATERS WILL FAVOR ROUNDS OF SEA
FOG. /CLR
