AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH MOVING INTO THE NORTHWESTERN U.S. WILL SUPPORT  
A CONDUCIVE THUNDERSTORM ENVIRONMENT THROUGH TONIGHT INTO THE EARLY  
DAY 2 PERIOD, WITH THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY ONGOING BY TUESDAY MORNING.  
LIMITED RAINFALL FROM THUNDERSTORMS COULD BRING ADDITIONAL IGNITIONS  
TO PORTIONS OF THE COLUMBIA BASIN WHERE ERCS ARE STILL IN THE  
80-90TH PERCENTILE RANGE. PRECIPITATION ASSOCIATED WITH  
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE WASHINGTON CASCADES WILL BE HIGHER IN  
HEAVIER CORES BUT DENSER CANOPIES MAY INHIBIT MOISTURE PENETRATION  
INTO UNDERSTORY FUELS, INVITING SOME IGNITION POTENTIAL FROM  
LIGHTNING ON THE FRINGES OF HEAVIER RAIN CORES. OTHERWISE, PREVIOUS  
FORECAST (SEE BELOW) REMAINS ON TRACK.

WITH THE UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH SHIFTING EASTWARD INTO MORE OF THE GREAT  
BASIN, THE STRONGEST SURFACE WINDS WILL ALSO SHIFT FARTHER EAST ON  
TUESDAY. THUNDERSTORMS WILL REMAIN POSSIBLE IN THE NORTHERN ROCKIES.

SOUTHERN INTO EAST-CENTRAL NEVADA AND WESTERN UTAH WILL LIKELY BE  
UNDERNEATH AND INTENSIFYING MID-LEVEL JET. WINDS OF 15-20 MPH  
(LOCALLY 25 MPH) WILL OVERLAP 15-20% RH. RH WILL BE SOMEWHAT  
UNCERTAIN GIVEN THE POTENTIAL FOR MID/HIGH LEVEL CLOUDS. WITH RECENT  
RAINFALL AND LESS RECEPTIVE FUELS, ONLY LOCALLY ELEVATED CONDITIONS  
ARE EXPECTED.  
   
..NORTHERN ROCKIES
 
 
SOME THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY IS POSSIBLE EARLY TUESDAY IN IDAHO. THIS  
ACTIVITY WILL SPREAD INTO MORE OF WESTERN MONTANA. ADDITIONAL  
THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP BY AFTERNOON FARTHER EAST IN MONTANA AS  
WELL. WITH THE CURRENT STATE OF FUELS SUGGESTING MARGINAL DRYNESS  
AND HIGHER PWAT VALUES, LIMITED RISK FOR LIGHTNING IGNITIONS IS  
CURRENTLY EXPECTED.
