...NEAR CRITICAL GRASSLAND FIRE SPREAD RATES TODAY ACROSS PORTIONS  
OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS...  
 
FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL WORSEN THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS MUCH OF  
EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS. SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL  
GUST 15 TO 25 MPH DURING THE AFTERNOON. RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL  
FALL INTO THE 25 TO 30 PERCENT RANGE, AS TEMPERATURES WARM INTO  
THE MID 70S TO LOWER 80S. A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE INTO NORTHEAST  
OKLAHOMA BY LATE AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE SOUTHWARD THROUGH THE  
OVERNIGHT HOURS. ANY ONGOING FIRE SUPPRESSION EFFORTS WILL NEED TO  
MONITOR THE WIND SHIFT.  
 
RECENT RAINFALL IS NOT EXPECTED TO IMPACT AREA FINE FUELS, SUCH  
AS REMNANT DORMANT GRASSES.  
 
FIRE FIGHTING PERSONNEL SHOULD EXPECT GRASSLAND FIRE SPREAD RATES  
GENERALLY BETWEEN 150 AND 200 FEET/MIN.  
 
AVOID OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES THAT COULD INADVERTENTLY START A FIRE,  
INCLUDING DISPOSING OF CIGARETTES PROPERLY. REPORT ANY WILDFIRES  
TO LOCAL OFFICIALS.
