...ELEVATED FIRE DANGER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED FOR THE SOUTH  
CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST COASTAL PLAINS OF PUERTO RICO...  
 
RELATIVE HUMIDITIES ARE FORECAST TO REACH 50 PERCENT ACROSS THE  
SOUTHERN COASTAL PLAINS. HOWEVER, AN AREA OF DRIER AIR WITH SAHARAN  
DUST IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS THE REGION TODAY AND RH'S COULD  
DROP BETWEEN 45-50 PERCENT IN SOME AREAS. KBDI VALUES WAS 678 AT  
CAMP SANTIAGO AND 538 IN CABO ROJO YESTERDAY. WINDS ARE EXPECTED  
TO PEAK BETWEEN 14-18 MPH WITH GUSTS BETWEEN 25-30 MPH ACROSS THE  
SOUTHERN COASTAL AREAS. THEREFORE, FIRE DANGER CONDITIONS ARE  
ELEVATED TODAY.  
 
FIRE AND EMERGENCY OFFICIALS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT WEATHER  
CONDITIONS ARE BECOMING MORE CONDUCIVE FOR THE IGNITION AND  
SPREAD OF WILD FIRES.  
 
FIRE DANGER STATEMENTS ARE ISSUED WHEN FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS  
ARE APPROACHING, BUT NOT MEETING OR EXCEEDING, RED FLAG WARNING  
CRITERIA.
