GRANT NM-LUNA NM-HIDALGO NM-
348 PM MST FRI NOV 29 2019

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN EL PASO HAS ISSUED A

* SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY FOR...
RAIN AND SNOWMELT IN...
GRANT COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN NEW MEXICO...
NORTH CENTRAL LUNA COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN NEW MEXICO...
NORTHWESTERN HIDALGO COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN NEW MEXICO...

* UNTIL 345 PM MST SATURDAY.

* AT 341 PM MST, CREEKS AND ARROYOS HAVE BEEN REPORTED RUNNING
ACROSS MUCH OF NORTHERN GRANT COUNTY DUE TO RUNOFF FROM RECENT
RAINFALL AND SNOWMELT. IN SOME AREAS, LOW WATER CROSSINGS ARE
RUNNING DEEP AND FAST ENOUGH TO BE TOO DANGEROUS TO CROSS. STREAM
GAUGES ON THE MIMBRES AND GILA RIVERS CONTINUE TO RISE, SUGGESTING
THAT OTHER SLOW-RESPONDING STREAMS WITH LOW WATER CROSSINGS, SUCH
AS BEAR CREEK, MANGAS CREEK, AND MOGOLLON CREEK, ARE LIKELY DOING
THE SAME.

* FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO BE MINOR, AND MAINLY AFFECTING LOW WATER
CROSSINGS.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT MAY EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE...
LOW WATER CROSSINGS ALONG HIGHWAY 35 DRAINING INTO THE MIMBRES
BASIN AND SAPILLO CREEK BASIN...
BEAR CREEK, MANGAS CREEK, AND OTHER SMALLER STREAMS WEST OF THE
CONTINENTAL DIVIDE.

THE MIMBRES RIVER IS ALSO RUNNING HIGHER THAN IT HAS IN SEVERAL
YEARS. WHILE IT WILL LIKELY REMAIN IN ITS BANKS, SEVERAL LOW WATER
CROSSINGS WILL BECOME IMPASSABLE, AND THE SUDDEN APPEARANCE OF WATER
IN THE LOWER BASIN, NEAR DEMING, MAY TAKE SOME PEOPLE BY SURPRISE.

CURRENT ROAD CONDITIONS AND CLOSURES CAN BE FOUND ON NMROADS.COM OR
BY CALLING 5-1-1 FROM WITHIN THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS FLOODED ROADS. FIND AN ALTERNATE ROUTE.
