KEY MESSAGES

- A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY CONTINUES THROUGH NOON FOR LIGHT
FREEZING DRIZZLE OR SNOW. SOME ADDITIONAL LIGHT ICE
ACCUMULATIONS ARE POSSIBLE MAINLY ON ELEVATED SURFACES.

- THERE IS SOME LOW POTENTIAL FOR FREEZING FOG TO DEVELOP TONIGHT
ESPECIALLY IN AREAS WHERE SNOW REMAINS ON THE GROUND. FREEZING
FOG CAN RESULT IN ICE DEPOSITS ON ROADS AND BRIDGES.

- LOW TEMPERATURES WILL DROP INTO THE TEENS AND LOW 20S TONIGHT.
BLACK ICE WILL BE POSSIBLE IN AREAS WHERE ROADS REMAIN WET.

SHORT TERM

/NEW/
/TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY/

THE CENTER OF THE UPPER TROUGH AXIS IS SPREADING ACROSS NORTH
TEXAS THIS MORNING WITH MID LEVEL COOLING AND FORCING FOR ASCENT
SQUEEZING OUT EVERY LAST BIT OF MOISTURE AVAILABLE ALOFT.
MEANWHILE UPPER LEVEL TOP DOWN DRYING HAS LEFT THE DENDRITIC
GROWTH ZONE NEARLY VOID OF MOISTURE. THE RESULT IS WIDESPREAD VERY
FINE SNOW GRAINS OR FREEZING DRIZZLE AND THIS IS EXPECTED TO
CONTINUE ACROSS THE REGION FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. WHILE THE
DRIZZLE HAS GENERALLY BE LIGHT, VISIBILITIES ARE STILL ON THE
ORDER OF 1-3SM INDICATING THAT THIS IS MAKING IT TO THE SURFACE.
IN AREAS WHERE TEMPERATURES ARE BELOW FREEZING, VERY LIGHT ICE
ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE ON EXPOSED SURFACES. WHERE SNOW IS
ALREADY ON THE GROUND, THIS WON'T BE AN ISSUE, BUT AREAS WHERE
SNOW HAS MELTED OR EXPOSED DRIER SURFACES MAY SEE SOME LIGHT ICE.
THE WINTER STORM WARNING WAS REPLACED WITH AN ADVISORY TO ACCOUNT
FOR THIS LINGERING PRECIPITATION. NO ADDITIONAL SNOWFALL
ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED.

ONCE THIS MOVES THROUGH THIS MORNING, LOW CLOUDS WILL LINGER
THROUGH THE AFTERNOON WITH A COLD AND CLOUDY DAY EXPECTED. HIGH
TEMPERATURES WERE KEPT AROUND 34-36 DEGREES AREAWIDE TODAY. SKIES
WILL CLEAR TONIGHT AND TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO FALL
APPRECIABLY INTO THE UPPER TEENS AND LOWER 20S. THIS WILL
CERTAINLY BE COLD ENOUGH FOR ANY RUNOFF WATER TO FREEZE INTO AREAS
OF BLACK ICE. IN ADDITION, THERE IS SOME POTENTIAL FOR FOG TO
DEVELOP OVERNIGHT GIVEN THE SHARP TEMPERATURE DROP, ESPECIALLY IN
AREAS WHERE SNOW LINGERS ON THE GROUND. THIS FOG WOULD FREEZE INTO
LIGHT ICE DEPOSITS ON AREA ROADS AND BRIDGES. THIS WILL BE
ASSESSED FURTHER TODAY AS A WIDESPREAD FREEZING FOG EVENT COULD
LEAD TO VERY DANGEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS EARLY SATURDAY MORNING.
OTHERWISE, SATURDAY WILL FEATURE MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES WITH WARMING
TEMPERATURES IN THE 40S.

LONG TERM

/ISSUED 233 AM CST FRI JAN 10 2025/
/SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/

THE LATTER HALF OF THE WEEKEND INTO MUCH OF NEXT WEEK LOOKS LIKE
IT WILL BE GENERALLY QUIET WITH A REINFORCING COLD FRONT ARRIVING
ON SUNDAY. THIS FRONT WILL LACK ANY SIGNIFICANT MOISTURE AND
SHOULD COME THROUGH DRY WITH A PERIOD OF BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES
EXTENDING INTO NEXT WEEK. HIGHS WILL BE IN THE 40S ON SUNDAY AND
MONDAY WITH A STEADY SLOW WARMUP INTO THE 50S THROUGH THE MIDDLE
OF THE WEEK. OVERNIGHT LOWS WILL BE COLDEST ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY
NIGHTS WHERE TEMPERATURES DIP INTO THE LOW/MID 20S WARMING
SLIGHTLY THROUGH MID WEEK. SEVERAL NIGHTS OF SUB FREEZING
TEMPERATURES CAN BE EXPECTED. NO SIGNIFICANT WEATHER IS EXPECTED
THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK.
