- MUCH ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR MUCH OF THE AREA THIS
WEEKEND.

- CONTINUED 20% CHANCE FOR LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS/SNOW SHOWERS
CHRISTMAS NIGHT, OTHERWISE DRY.

SHORT TERM /THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/

ISSUED AT 130 PM MST FRI DEC 20 2024

TONIGHT...A QUIET NIGHT IS EXPECTED ACROSS THE AREA. LOW
TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM THE MIDDLE TEENS EAST OF HIGHWAY 25 TO
THE LOWER TO UPPER 20S WEST OF HIGHWAY 25.

SATURDAY-SATURDAY NIGHT...A BROAD UPPER LEVEL RIDGE AXIS SLOWLY
MOVES TOWARD THE AREA FROM THE WEST. 850MB TEMPERATURES WARM ABOUT
5F TO 16F ACROSS THE AREA. HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO RANGE
FROM THE 45 TO 50 DEGREE RANGE ACROSS NORTON/GRAHAM COUNTIES TO
AROUND 60 ALONG THE CO/KS BORDER. LOW TEMPERATURES FALL INTO THE
MIDDLE 20S TO LOWER 30S.

SUNDAY-SUNDAY NIGHT...AN 850MB THERMAL RIDGE STRENGTHENS OVER THE
AREA DURING MUCH OF THE DAY WITH WARMING OF 5F TO 9F, AHEAD OF A
COLD FRONT. THERE WILL BE SOME INCREASE IN HIGH CLOUDS BUT PRESENTLY
SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO PREVENT AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES FROM RISING INTO
THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 60S. LOW TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO BE IN THE
MIDDLE 20S TO LOWER 30S UNDER SCATTERED TO BROKEN MID AND HIGH
CLOUDS.

MONDAY-MONDAY NIGHT...DAYTIME TEMPERATURES COOL INTO THE LOWER TO
MIDDLE 50S, STILL ABOUT 10F TO 15F ABOVE NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF
YEAR. LOW TEMPERATURES REMAIN ABOVE NORMAL IN THE UPPER 20S TO LOWER
30S.

LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/

ISSUED AT 130 PM MST FRI DEC 20 2024

TUESDAY...SHORTWAVE RIDGING MOVES OVER THE AREA, IN BETWEEN MONDAYS
SYSTEM MOVING AWAY FROM THE AREA AND THE NEXT UPPER TROUGH
APPROACHING THE COLORADO HIGH COUNTRY FROM THE WEST OVERNIGHT.
PRESENTLY, HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO BE IN THE 50F TO 55F
RANGE WITH LOW TEMPERATURES IN THE 25F TO 30F RANGE.

WEDNESDAY...THIS MORNINGS GFS/GEM/ECMWF/GEFS MODELS SHOW A CLOSED
555MB UPPER LOW MOVING INTO NEW MEXICO DURING THE DAY THEN INTO THE
TEXAS PANHANDLE OVERNIGHT. PRESENTLY, 850-500MB RELATIVE HUMIDITY IS
RATHER DRY DURING THE DAY SO FOR NOW NO PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED.
THERE CONTINUES TO BE A 20%-30% CHANCE FOR RAIN SHOWERS AND SNOW
SHOWERS OVERNIGHT. WITH 850MB TEMPERATURES IN THE 2C TO 5C RANGE,
I'M NOT TOO CONFIDENT WE'LL REACH OUR FORECAST HIGHS IN THE MIDDLE
40S TO LOWER 50S. IT WILL BE CLOSE BUT POTENTIAL CLOUD COVER COULD
PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING. LOW TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO BE IN
THE 20S.

THURSDAY...AS WEDNESDAYS SYSTEM MOVES AWAY FROM THE AREA, WE WATCH
ANOTHER TROUGH APPROACH FROM THE WEST. THERE COULD BE SOME MORNING
PRECIPITATION IN THE AREA, JUST DEPENDS ON HOW FAST OR SLOW
WEDNESDAYS SYSTEM MOVES. OTHERWISE, THE REST OF THE PERIOD LOOKS TO
BE DRY. HIGH TEMPERATURES LOOK SIMILAR TO WEDNESDAY IN THE MIDDLE
40S TO LOWER 50S WITH LOW TEMPERATURES IN THE 20S.

FRIDAY...PRESENTLY, THE FORECAST IS DRY DURING THE DAY WITH A 20%
CHANCE FOR RAIN SHOWERS OVERNIGHT AS THE UPPER TROUGH MOVES THROUGH.
WE'LL HAVE TO WATCH AS THERE COULD BE SOME LIGHT PRECIPITATION
DURING THE DAY. HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO BE IN THE MIDDLE
40S TO LOWER 50S WITH LOW TEMPERATURES IN THE 25F TO 30F RANGE.
