FOR FRIDAY  
 
- DRY CONDITIONS WILL REMAIN IN PLACE FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE

AN UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE TO REMAIN ANCHORED ACROSS TEXAS THROUGH  
FRIDAY ALLOWING FOR SUBSIDENT NORTHERLY FLOW TO DRIVE AFTERNOON  
HIGH TEMPERATURES INTO THE UPPER 90S TO NEAR 100 DEGREES. AT THE  
SURFACE, HIGH PRESSURE TO THE EAST WILL ALLOW FOR WEAK SOUTHERLY  
FLOW WHICH WILL CONTRIBUTE TO GRADUALLY INCREASING DEWPOINT  
VALUES. THE COMBINATION OF HIGHS NEAR 100 AND DEWPOINT VALUES IN  
THE LOWER 70S WILL ALLOW FOR HEAT INDEX VALUES TO EXCEED 105  
DEGREES ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON ACROSS EAST AND NORTHEAST TEXAS,  
SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA, AND PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST LOUISIANA AND  
SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS. THUS, A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT  
ACROSS THESE AREAS FOR FRIDAY.  
 
AN INVERTED UPPER-TROUGH EXTENDING FROM THE NORTH-CENTRAL GULF  
INTO THE SOUTHEASTERN CONUS WILL RETROGRADE WEST ACROSS THE  
ARKLATEX ON SATURDAY. INSTABILITY ASSOCIATED WITH THE TROUGH WILL  
ALLOW FOR SLIGHTLY COOLER TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 90S ACROSS  
LOUISIANA AND ARKANSAS, WITH HIGHS CONTINUING IN THE UPPER 90S  
ACROSS TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA WHICH WILL REMAIN UNDER THE INFLUENCE  
OF THE EASTERN PERIPHERY RIDGE. ADDITIONALLY, COULD SEE A FEW  
DIURNALLY DRIVEN SHOWERS ACROSS NORTH LOUISIANA ON SATURDAY DUE TO  
INSTABILITY ASSOCIATED WITH THE UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH.  
 
THE TROUGH IS FORECAST TO RETROGRADE WEST INTO CENTRAL AND SOUTH  
TEXAS, POSSIBLY DEEPENING INTO A CLOSED LOW ON SUNDAY. THE TROUGH  
WILL THEN LINGER ACROSS TEXAS THROUGH MOST OF THE WORKWEEK.  
INSTABILITY ASSOCIATED WITH THE TROUGH WILL RESULT IN SUFFICIENT  
MIXING TO LIMIT AFTERNOON HIGHS TO THE LOW TO MID 90S. OTHERWISE,  
SCATTERED AFTERNOON SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE  
EACH DAY NEXT WEEK ACROSS MAINLY DEEP EAST TEXAS INTO NORTH

VFR CONDITIONS ARE FORECAST TO PREVAIL ACROSS ALL OUR TERMINAL  
LOCATIONS THROUGH THE NEXT 24 HOURS. PERSISTENCE IS THE BEST  
AVIATION WEATHER FORECAST TOOL AND THAT WILL CONSIST OF A GROWING  
CU FIELD ACROSS OUR AIRSPACE BEGINNING AROUND 15Z. WHILE A FEW  
CEILINGS WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THE 4-6KT HEIGHT BY LATE MORNING  
THROUGH THE EARLY AFTERNOON, THESE HEIGHTS WILL REMAIN ABOVE  
CRITICAL VFR THRESHOLDS. THIS CU FIELD WILL DISSIPATE QUICKLY  
AFTER 23Z THIS EVENING. LOOK FOR LIGHT SSW TO SE WINDS TODAY WITH  
SPEEDS GENERALLY NEAR OR UNDER 10KTS.
