DISCUSSION

A PROLONGED PERIOD OF WET CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED FOR MUCH OF THIS COMING WORK
WEEK, ALTHOUGH AREAS OF RAIN OVER THE REGION WILL CONTINUE TO GRADUALLY DIMINISH
FROM WEST TO EAST THIS EVENING. A SHALLOW COLD FRONT HAS MOVED INTO NORTHEAST TEXAS
TO ALONG THE OKLAHOMA/ARKANSAS BORDER THIS AFTERNOON, AND WILL CONTINUE TO DRIFT SE
ACROSS MUCH OF THE REMAINDER OF THE REGION TONIGHT BEFORE EXITING EASTERN LOUISIANA BY
MID-MORNING MONDAY. WHILE DRY CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED MONDAY MORNING, ANOTHER IN A
SERIES OF UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCES WILL SHIFT NORTHEAST INTO THE REGION DURING THE
AFTERNOON, WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS REDEVELOPING OVER E TX/SE OK DURING THE AFTERNOON,
BEFORE BECOMING MORE NUMEROUS MONDAY NIGHT INTO SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS AND PORTIONS OF
NORTH LOUISIANA. SOME OF THIS RAIN MAY CHANGE OVER TO LIGHT FREEZING RAIN MONDAY
NIGHT ACROSS WESTERN RED RIVER COUNTY TEXAS AND MCCURTAIN COUNTY OKLAHOMA, BEFORE
TRANSITIONING BACK OVER TO RAIN BY MID-MORNING TUESDAY AS TEMPERATURES CLIMB BACK
ABOVE FREEZING. THE RAINS WILL REMAIN NUMEROUS ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION TUESDAY
THROUGH THURSDAY AS ADDITIONAL DISTURBANCES EJECT NE AHEAD OF AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE
THAT WILL TRAVERSE WESTERN AND NORTH TEXAS THURSDAY. ANOTHER POTENTIAL FOR LIGHT
FREEZING RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE TUESDAY NIGHT/WEDNESDAY MORNING OVER PORTIONS OF EXTREME
NORTHEAST TEXAS, SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA, AND THE NORTHERN SECTIONS OF SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS,
BUT NO SIGNIFICANT ICE ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED MONDAY OR TUESDAY NIGHTS. WIDESPREAD
RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2-4+ INCHES ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THE END OF THE WORK WEEK, WITH
THE POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING EXISTING WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY MAINLY OVER EAST TEXAS,
NORTH LOUISIANA, AND POSSIBLY EXTREME SOUTHERN ARKANSAS. THE RAIN WILL FINALLY DIMINISH
FROM WEST TO EAST THURSDAY NIGHT, WITH DRY AND MILDER CONDITIONS RETURNING TO THE
REGION FOR NEXT WEEKEND.
